Has this month felt like a year to you too?

I don’t know about you, but 2025 has proven that she will be a bit of a challenge for me. And you know what, I am up for it. If there is anything these last few years have taught me is that I am always up for a “do good” mission. But, what I did have to quickly remind myself was to take it easy on all the updates and “breaking news”.

We live in a time where we are getting information way quicker than we have time to process it. And the way this can destroy our nervous system is real. I told myself I was getting off social media for my mental health. That led me down a tiktok path that may have been worse. Yeah, I know, ridiculous. I am approaching 50 in a few years and you would think I would know better by now. But, here I was, face in my phone. And you know the old saying “when you know better, you do better” or something like that. So, I took some space from that too.

I say all of this just as a reminder that we all can easily fall way from what we want sometime. And, it is never too late to dust yourself off and try again.

Here are a few things I like to do when I find myself inevitably heading in the wrong direction.

  • Walk literally anywhere.

    • It can be in nature where you can observe and take in the natural goodness or on the track at the YMCA. What it doesn’t have to be is fancy or a big to do..just move.

  • Breath.

    • Can you close your eyes for a few minutes and focus on your breath? Maybe put on some music to help set the mood? Don’t forget to unclench your jaw and drop those shoulders

  • Get into community.

    • The internet can make you feel alone and in the presence of others all at the same time. Do not forget about the human connection that has proven to keep us aligned and alive since the dawn of time. Go to the library, local coffee shop or studio and say hello to the person next to you.

I hope these words can help someone. I look forward to seeing you soon.

Anna
